Latvian pianist, composer and improviser Vestards Šimkus has enchanted audiences around the world with his piano playing, winning many prestigious international awards. As a composer, he has written not only music for concert halls published in Europe, but also film music, which has repeatedly won awards at Latvian and foreign film festivals. Sometimes the musician also gives such rare performances as concerts of completely improvised music, inspired by the magic of the moment, creating new music before the eyes of the audience. Such an event is also expected at the BŪTĪBA festival, where the pianist will perform a large-scale meditative improvisation, inspired by the beauty of Latvian nature in the mood of the summer solstice.
